Install Updates of O&O Defrag

Update V4.x to V6

If you wish to update your old O&O Defrag V4 to O&O Defrag V6, please pay attention to the following:

1.

Uninstall all previous versions (Professional or Server Edition). The setup program checks if there are any previous versions and asks you to uninstall these. Once the uninstallation is complete, you will have to start the setup again.

2.

You can choose during the installation whether you want to keep old settings or remove them. Select the option of your choice.

3.

O&O Defrag V6 is being installed.

4.

If you chose to keep old settings, these will be retrieved and converted during the installation.

5.

Follow the normal installation steps. Your new version is installed!

Update to a new release

The update to a new release of O&O Defrag V6 is easy and quickly done.

Microsoft Software Installer 2.0 or higher

1.

Start the setup of the new release.

2.

A screen comes up, in which you can choose to modify, repair or remove the program.

3.

Choose Repair program and click on Next.

4.

The new version is being installed. Previous settings will automatically be retrieved.

1.

Open the control panel from the start menu 'settings’.

Click on Add/Remove programs

3.

Choose O&O Defrag Professional Edition or O&O Defrag Server Edition from the list of currently installed programs.

4.

Click on Add/Remove.

5.

O&O Defrag’s uninstallation program is starting.

6.

A screen appears where you can choose to modify, repair or remove the program.

7.

Choose Remove program and click on Next. (The option Repair program is not available on older MSI).

8.

The old version is being uninstalled. You can choose to keep previous settings so that the new version retrieves them.

9.

Once the uninstallation is complete, install the new release. To do so, follow the instructions given to install O&O Defrag V6.
